Kwara partners digital firm to train 200 pupils in artificial intelligence

The Kwara State Government, has partnered with Digital Equity Africa to train no fewer than 200 pupils on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance creativity and problem-solving skills.

The pupils were drawn from public and private schools across the state following a seamless process.

According to a statement on Monday by Community Manager of the Ilorin Innovation Hub, Adebola Oladipo, the five-day training programme, tagged “Future Minds Independence AI Bootcamp,” was held from October 1 to 5, 2025, at the Ilorin Innovation Hub.

The Managing Director of Ilorin Innovation Hub, Mr. Temi Kolawole, while speaking at the grand finale on Sunday in Ilorin, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to digital inclusion among young learners.

Kolawole expressed delight at the participants’ creativity, noting that the children demonstrated remarkable understanding of emerging technologies.

“It is very impressive to see young kids under the age of 10 presenting the websites they built, a storybook they have written, and even music they requested AI to compose. If they can do this at this stage, we can imagine what they will do in the next five to 10 years,” he said.

He added that such exposure enhances curiosity, innovation, and creativity among young people.

The Chief Executive Officer of Digital Equity Africa, Mrs. Justina Nnam Oha, said the bootcamp was aimed at shaping mindsets and inspiring children to see themselves as creators of the digital future.

“Over the past few days, your children have explored the fascinating world of Artificial Intelligence, learning how machines think, create, and solve real-world problems.

“They have collaborated, built, and imagined boldly—proving that the future truly belongs to those who are curious, courageous, and creative.”

She commended the Kwara State Government and the Ilorin Innovation Hub for their commitment to digital literacy and inclusion, noting that such partnerships ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to future opportunities.
