Kwara North Advocacy Group Demands Fair Play in 2027 Governorship Race

The Advocates for Kwara North Governance (AKNG), a group advocating for a power shift to Kwara North in the upcoming 2027 governorship election, has called upon Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other key stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support their demand for the rotation of political power.

In a press statement released by the group and signed by its coordinator, Mallam Ibrahim Adamu, who is a prominent APC youth, the AKNG emphasized that Kwara North has long been marginalized in the state’s political landscape since the return of democracy in 1999.

Notably the group expressed that Kwara North, comprising five local government areas – Baruten, Edu, Kaiama, Moro, and Patigi, has yet to produce a governor for the state, despite its significant population and contribution to the state’s economy and the ruling APC.

The group asserts that it is high time for Kwara North to have an equal opportunity to produce the next governor of the state in 2027, aligning with principles of justice, equity, and inclusiveness.

AKNG has urged Governor AbdulRazaq and other APC stakeholders to heed the wishes and desires of the people of Kwara North and actively support their aspiration for a power shift in the next gubernatorial election.

Additionally, the group has called upon the residents of Kwara North to unite and speak in unison on the matter of power shift, resisting any efforts to create divisions or distractions in their pursuit.

AKNG is confident in the abilities of sons and daughters of Kwara North, believing they have the competence to govern the state efficiently, bringing development and prosperity to every corner of Kwara State.

The group also commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his leadership and dedication in fulfilling promises to the people of Kwara State. They see Governor AbdulRazaq as a beacon of hope for APC in the state, pledging their unwavering loyalty and support for his and the APC’s endeavors in advancing Kwara State.
