Kwara LG poll: Flagbearers announced by state excos not known to us, Alanamu APC protest

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alanamu Ward of Ilorin West Local Government, have raised concerns over the recently released list of candidates for the upcoming local government elections.

In a letter, jointly signed by Alhaji Muyideen Ikolaba and Rafiu Onigbegi, and addressed to the APC Local Government Appeal Committee, the party leaders expressed their dissatisfaction with the inclusion of Aremu Yusuf Ajia and Shehu Abdulrahman Ladan as candidates for Alanamu Ward Councillorship and Ilorin West Local Government Chairmanship, respectively.

The party leaders stated that no primary elections were conducted in Alanamu Ward or Ilorin West Local Government, calling into question the legitimacy of the candidates.

They emphasized that Aremu Yusuf Ajia, promoted as the councillorship candidate, is not recognized as an aspirant or a member of the party in the ward and did not declare his intention to run for office.

They also stated that the lack of primary elections deprived party members of their right to vote for their preferred candidates, resulting in widespread dissatisfaction.

They urged the appeal committee to address the issue and correct what they described as an anomaly.

The APC leaders in their letter requested urgent intervention from the appeal committee to resolve the matter and ensure fair electoral processes within the party.
