Kwara govt vows to boost economic development through road projects

The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Works, has reaffirmed its commitment to spurring economic growth and development in communities through enhanced road infrastructure.

Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, the state Commissioner for Works, made this known on Tuesday during an inspection of ongoing road projects in the Kwara South Senatorial District,

Olododo emphasized that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq remains focused on developing a viable economy, with road projects serving as essential links for sustainable progress.

He said, “There is no gainsaying in the transformation His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has brought to Kwara State. He is running an all-encompassing government that is paying attention to the needs of the people within the resources available.”

The commissioner inspected several significant road projects, including the newly approved Agbamu Ila-Orangun Kwara/Osun boundary road awarded to CPN Construction Company Ltd, and notable developments on the Sabaja-Oba Isin-Owa Onire road by Fik Construction and Engineering Ltd.

He also highlighted the nearly completed Ibrahim Taiwo road/Popo Road in Offa, which is 95 per cent completed.

Furthermore, the Commissioner’s inspection also include the newly completed Omu Aran-Oro Ago road and the Esie Arandun road, currently at 90 percent completion. Olododo announced plans for phased rehabilitation of the Igbaja-Oke Ode Road to enhance the travel experience.

In Agbamu, he paid homage to the Arigbamu of Agbamu Kingdom, Oba Samuel Olaniyi Dare, requesting the community’s support for ongoing projects and other development efforts initiated by the AbdulRazaq-led administration.

Oba Dare expressed gratitude for the approval of the Agbamu road project, which has been sought by the community since 1993, and assured the government of his people’s unwavering support.

Commandant Kayode Oyinloye, Chairman of the Agbamu Development Union, praised the administration’s various developmental initiatives while urging further interventions to meet critical community needs.

Engr. Olododo also visited the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, to offer condolences on the passing of his mother, Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi, remembering her as a beacon of love and service to the community.

The inspection tour included Engr. Mudashirua Yusuf Oladimeji, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Infrastructure, and Engr. Akanbi Moshood, Director of Civil Engineering in the Ministry of Works.
