Kwara govt urges intending Pilgrims to represent State with dignity
The Kwara State Government has urged all intending Muslim pilgrims to act as exemplary ambassadors of the state during their hajj pilgrimage, stressing that the journey is about spiritual devotion rather than tourism or social media presence.
This message was conveyed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Mamman Saba Jibril, at an enlightening lecture and prayer session in Ilorin, organized by the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Prof. Jibril, represented by the Permanent Secretary of General Services, Alh. Abdulganiyu Shuaib, encouraged pilgrims to support the government’s initiatives by displaying good behavior and complying with established rules and regulations to ensure a successful pilgrimage experience.
The importance of maintaining a positive image was reiterated by the State Amirul Hajj, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu, who is also the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo. He urged the intending pilgrims to embody peace and dedication, especially in challenging situations.
Oba Alebiosu commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) for implementing measures to facilitate a smooth hajj process, ensuring that pilgrims have the necessary support.
Professor Moshood Jimba, Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, acknowledged the state government’s logistical preparations, which include the renovation of the hajj camp and the appointment of capable staff. He emphasized the significance of hajj as an essential pillar of Islam and encouraged pilgrims to fully engage in all preparatory lectures.
Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadri, the Executive Secretary of the board, announced that 2,150 intending pilgrims have registered and are slated to be airlifted by Max Air beginning mid-May 2025. He emphasized the sacred nature of the hajj and the need for total dedication from the pilgrims.
An informative program featuring lectures by experienced Islamic scholars is set to take place next Sunday at the board’s premises to prepare the pilgrims adequately. The event concluded with special prayers for the pilgrims led by Sheikh Abdullahi Abdulhameed, Imam Imale of Ilorin, and saw participation from notable figures including Alh. Muhammad Adebayo, Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, and other distinguished religious leaders.
