Kwara govt unveils multi-million naira projects in Ilorin South LGA

The Kwara State government has officially commissioned a series of multi-million Naira development projects in the Ilorin South Local Government Area (LGA), aimed at improving local infrastructure and community well-being.

At the commissioning ceremony, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, praised the Executive Chairman of Ilorin South LGA for his proactive approach and urged other councils to adopt similar strategies, while highlighting the overwhelming response from benefiting communities, who turned out in large numbers to express their appreciation for the new initiatives.

Hon. Bata commended the variety of projects launched, which cover crucial areas such as water supply, healthcare, education, and electrification, noting their direct benefits to the communities.

He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of the council to promote rapid development and encouraged a trend of positive imitation among other councils.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Nuhu Abdulmajeed, expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s support and acknowledged that the projects reflect the vision of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

He reassured other communities with pending requests to remain patient, promising that their needs would be addressed as soon as funding is secured.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Iyabo Modupe Adekeye, also lauded the Chairman for his commitment to community needs and reminded council officials of the importance of complying with procurement regulations.

Among the key projects launched were the drilling and installation of motorized boreholes in several communities, electrification projects with new transformers, renovations of the Primary Health Care Centre at Ajibesin, and upgrades to local educational facilities.

These initiatives aim to enhance the quality of life for residents and support sustainable development in the area.
