Kwara govt to invest N14bn in education sector
The Kwara State Government says it is set to revitalize the educational sector in the state with about N14,301,843,568.18.
This is an addition to the N7.1bn matching grants recently obtained by the state government from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
A statement signed on Saturday by the Hon Commissioner for Communications, Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin, quoted the Commissioner for Finance and Planning, Olasumbo Florence Oyeyemi as saying that the state “would be committing at least N14,301,843,568.18 to revitalize the basic education sector”.
Oyeyemi told the cabinet that the facility becomes necessary in the face of dwindling resources to subnational governments across the country and the overarching need in Kwara State to invest in basic education for a brighter future.
She noted that the decision would be conveyed to the House of Assembly for their approval and inclusion of the same in a supplementary budget which the government might seek to deepen investments across productive sectors of the economy.
