Kwara govt strengthens commitment to vulnerable children’s welfare

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to improving the welfare and living conditions of children in orphanages and correctional centers. This commitment was articulated by the Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Nnafatima Imam Mariam, PhD, during her visits to the Children Rehabilitation Centre in Amoyo and the Children Reception Centre in Pipeline, Ilorin.

During her visits, Hon. Mariam underscored the importance of prioritizing the needs of children with physical and mental challenges, as well as orphans, noting that their well-being is critical to fostering a healthier society. “Children are the future, and we must invest in their development to ensure they have the opportunity to succeed,” she stated.

The Commissioner praised the efforts of the state government, highlighting the successes of several orphans who have graduated from their educational programs and are preparing for their National Youth Service, while others are set to enter tertiary institutions. “These achievements reflect the positive impact of our initiatives and the potential within each of these children,” she remarked.

In her message to the children, Hon. Mariam encouraged them to embrace values such as hard work, respect, perseverance, and determination as they navigate their paths in life. “You are not alone; the government is here to support you every step of the way, ensuring that you can build bright futures,” she reassured them.

Additionally, she announced plans to allocate more resources to enhance the functionality of these care facilities, aiming to create a more supportive and efficient environment. This initiative aligns with the AbdulRazaq administration’s vision of inclusivity and support for all children. The ongoing commitment of the Kwara State Government to the welfare of vulnerable children highlights its dedication to creating a nurturing environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
