Kwara govt reiterates commitment to promoting adult education
The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, reiterated its commitment to supporting and promoting adult education and vocational skills acquisition in the State.
Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, the state commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, while stating this during a stakeholders meeting held at the Conference room of the Ministry of Education, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his contributions and support towards the advancement of the State’s educational sector and its participation in the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) initiative.
The Commissioner, while emphasizing the importance of synergy and collaboration among relevant stakeholders to achieve the set national literacy goals, expressed optimism on the positive outcomes of the meeting also called for collective efforts in addressing the out-of-school children phenomenon in Kwara State
She, however, thanked the participants for their contributions to the successful deliberations on critical matters.
Earlier in her remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Rebecca Bake, commended the State Government for supporting literacy and vocational skills acquisition in the State, urging both adults and youths to engage in vocational skills acquisition for self-reliance actively.
The Executive Director of the Agency for Mass Education, Mallam Yusuf Saka, thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his commitment to the eradication of illiteracy and the empowerment of citizens with vocational skills to boost the socio-economic capacities of Kwarans.
Mallam Yusuf Saka, who emphasized the importance of adult and non-formal education, highlighted the major focus of the meeting, which are achieving adults’ and youths’ literacy goals, addressing out-of-school children and reducing the illiteracy level of the State. He, therefore, called for robust support and synergy among stakeholders to achieve the set goals.
