Kwara govt reintroduces ‘abandoned’ waste bins, tasks residents on proper disposal

Kwara State Government has reintroduced the use of the abandoned waste bins popularly called ‘robo bins’ across the state.

The government had earlier replaced the robo bins with smaller ones, an action condemned by residents who demanded the return of the old ones.

“We all clamour for this rorobins, why are our attitudes changing towards it? Please we all need to understand that all what the government is doing is for our own good,” the Commissioner of Environment, Mrs. Remilekun Banigbe, said on Thursday during the placement of the Bin at Ipata market, Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state.

She said the government would ensure proper management of the public waste bins.

She added that the waste bins would be placed at strategic places in residential and market places to enable people to properly dispose their wastes rather than placing them on the road medians.
