Kwara govt orders full implementation of sanitation exercise in all 16LGAs
The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Environment has directed the Chairmen of all the 16 Local Government Areas of the state to replicate a full fledge and effective environmental sanitation excercise in each of their respective local government with immediate effect.
Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, the Commissioner for Environment, gave this directive in Ilorin today as part of the information passed to the Pre-Sanitation Exercise forum held in her office.
The Commissioner who had earlier appreciated the tremendous achievements of the ministry in the past year, noted that; “now that we have a well constituted leadership structure at the grassroots, it is therefore expected that the 16 Local Government Areas will strategies, to ensure compliance with the sanitary laws and restrictions of both vehicular and human movements during the 3 hours period of the monthly sanitation exercise.”

She however, urged the residents to fully participate in the exercise by clearing their environment, warning that arrangements are in place for the operation of at least 17 mobile courts at strategic locations within the metropolis, while security operatives are also in top form for enforcement and maintenance of law and order.
“It is an offence punishable under the environmental law to dump waste on drainages, pedestrian walkways, and other unapproved dump sites,” She added.
