Kwara govt lauds doctors’ sacrifice to improve healthcare service delivery

The Kwara State Government has commended the dedication of medical doctors across in upholding the health system while calling for more commitments to strengthen healthcare delivery.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, stated this during the week at the 2025 National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), with the theme; “Policy Making for Quality Health Care Service: Engaging Policy Makers for Quality Health Care Delivery held in Ilorin.

The commissioner praised the Medical personnel across the nation for their unwavering commitments, which have been instrumental in upholding Nigeria’s healthcare system together despite daunting challenges.

El-Imam, while acknowledging Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s support in upscaling healthcare facilities at all levels, described the governor as a visionary leader passionate about improving the health sector in Kwara State.

According to her, “Kwara State stands tall among its peers, offering one of the most attractive environments for healthcare professionals to thrive, with competitive salaries and conducive working conditions.

“Our amiable Governor  AbdulRazaq has fully paid the Medical Residency Training Fund as part of his commitments to build the capacity for qualified doctors and the payment of consolidated medical salary structure (CONMESS) for all doctors in the State”.

She, however, urged MDCAN to “encourage members of the association to remain in Nigeria and contribute to the growth of her health workforce.”

The National President of Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Prof Mohammad Aminu Mohammad, in his address, called on policymakers to create sustainable and impactful policies to elevate healthcare delivery in Nigeria, as he underscored the need for collaboration between stakeholders, to address pressing challenges facing the sector.
