Kwara govt embarks on construction of Kishi-Kaiama, Ilesha-Baruba roads
The Kwara State Government has commenced the preparatory work needed to kick start the construction of the 34.5Km Kishi-Kaiama road to ensure that people have access to roads that will boost economic growth and development.
The commencement of the road projects was parts of the fulfilment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s campaign promise to ensure that his administration provide access roads to every communities in the state.
In a statement made available on its verified Facebook page, the Kwara State Government described Kaiama, the headquarters of Kaiama LGA as an agrarian community whose people are determined and hard-working farmers, saying that the farmers couldn’t delivered their farm produce to their target due to bad road.
“Farmers have been hindered from transporting their farm produce to their target markets and to ease the plight of the farmers and other road users, the Kwara State Government has commenced work on the Kishi-Kaiama road that was abandoned for years,” it stated.
In a related development, the State Government has also commenced the construction of Ilesha Baruba Township road (Mosque road) with a view to enhancing movement of goods and services.
According to the Kwara state government, the road project, when completed is expected to open up the town for massive economic growth and development.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has directed the contractor handling the project to source materials locally by patronising local industries, artisans and businesses sited in the host community in line with his administration’s local content development policy.
