The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has said the Kwara State Government didn’t beg the association for drugs.
The state government had in a letter obtained by this medium requested for drugs to carry out medical outreach in commemoration of AbdulRazaq’s administration second years in office from PSN.

However, reacting to the controversy generated by the letter, the association in a letter jointly signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Pharm. Adejuwon Otelaja and Pharm. Bello Munirat Kikelomo said the communication was released in good faith and bridge barriers towards the success of the proposed medical and surgical outreach for the benefit of the good people of Kwara State.
They said, “Kwara State Government did not beg us for drugs but the committee needs to document our relationship in the circumstance that we also need to impact positively on the community of our respective practice as pharmacists and we had canvassed during the Inauguration of the new state executive council of our society in April with full government presence.”
The PSN reaffirmed that it is not affiliated with any political parties.
“PSN is apolitical and does not wish to drag any into any partisan political imbroglio that will mar our role in the community,” the statement added.
PSN added that it will continue to collaborate and partner with the government and relevant stakeholders in ensuring universal health coverage.
“All over the world, private sector and NGOs have always supported the government. This outreach is a noble and wordy cause and the government should be commended for embarking on it.
“Our society frowns at this attempt to drag it into politics of the state and strain our relationship with the government,” it concluded.
