Kwara govt commissions live bird market to boost livestock production
The Kwara State Government has inaugurated a new Live Bird Market in Ita-Nma, within the Ilorin West Local Government Area, aiming to enhance livestock production and ensure food security for the state’s residents.
At the official launch, Hon Oloruntoyosi Thomas-Adebayo, the state Commissioner for Livestock Development, reiterated the administration’s dedication to creating sustainable economic opportunities for the populace. She noted that the establishment of the market represents a fruitful collaboration between the Federal Government, the State Government, and the Ilorin West Local Government Area.
The Commissioner stated that the state government is committed to ongoing collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and other relevant agencies to attract additional support for sustainable livestock initiatives.
In her address, she acknowledged the Fowl Sellers Association for their active role in the project’s development and urged them to utilize the market effectively while maintaining high standards of hygiene and upkeep.
Abdulqadir Hassan, the President of the Fowl Sellers Association of Nigeria in the Kwara State Chapter, expressed his gratitude to the government for the initiative. He encouraged association members to uphold strict hygiene practices and make the most of the new market facilities.
