Kwara govt collaborates with IVTEC to empower youth under employment generation scheme
The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC), Ajase Ipo, on Friday, announced the commencement of batch 8 of the 2024/2025 admission of Youths Empowerment and Employment Generation Scheme.
The Rector of the College, Engr. (Dr.) Yaru Salihu, while stating this in a statement issued on Friday by the Press Secretary of the Institute, Grace Ige, said the programme, which the Kwara State Government is sponsoring, was aimed at promoting viable and skills acquisition training to increase the effectiveness of government efforts at combating poverty and youth unemployment.
The programme also intends to create jobs to increase entrepreneurship opportunities among the teeming youths in the state.
The statement furthered that areas of training of the scheme include Trades and Vocations, Automotive,
Building and Electrical Departments.
Others are the Heating Department,
Air-conditioning (HVAC),
Hospitality and Tourism
Management, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Welding and Fabrication, and Entrepreneurship Departments.
The statement stated that the programme entails an intensive three months of in-centre training, followed by the mandatory three months of industrial attachment at the appropriate industry/business outfits.
Upon successful completion of the programme, the State Government will provide qualified beneficiaries with an empowerment business start-up package, which would enable them to start up their businesses, adding that the resumption date for the 2024/2025 session begins on 17th of February 2025, adding that successful beneficiaries will be awarded a Technical and Entrepreneurship Certificate in their field of training.

The Rector also disclosed in the statement that the state government has been providing full tuition fees, scholarships, and monthly stipends of N5,000 each for beneficiaries who have gone through the training since inception.
It is expected that all beneficiaries at the training would have acquired enough skills to make a better living, either as gainfully employed or as entrepreneurs.
