Kwara govt closes schools amidst students’ unrest
The Kwara State Government has ordered the immediate closure of Government High School and Government Day Secondary School, Adeta, Ilorin, in the Ilorin West Local Government Area due to unrest among students.
Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, announced the decision today at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Ilorin while emphasizing that only students currently taking the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE) and their teachers would be permitted on school grounds during this period.
“Students involved in the SSSCE examinations must wear their identification cards at all times when on campus,” Dr. Olohungbebe stated. He also urged parents and guardians to keep their children at home during this time.
The commissioner warned, “Any student who disobeys these directives will be apprehended by security personnel.”
