Kwara govt charges newly sworn-in NYSC members on discipline, selfless service
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has charged the newly sworn-in members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), deployed to the state for the mandatory one-year service to be disciplined and engage in various camp activities to increase their developmental skills.
Governor AbdulRazaq stated this during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘A’, Stream I Youths Corps members, at the NYSC Orientation Camp at Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, where the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Adebara, who was represented by Justice Helen Ajayi administered the “NYSC Oath of Allegiance” to the corps members.
The Governor, who was represented by the Kwara State Commissioner for Youths Development Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu welcomed the corp members to the State of Harmony while urging them to participate in camp activities such as physical training, paramilitary drills, citizenship, and leadership training, among others.
He advised the corps members to make the experience of their service year exciting and highly rewarding while assuring them that the State Government would create an enabling environment for them to thrive.
He said, “I enjoin you to always present yourselves as worthy ambassadors of your families and indeed the NYSC scheme, by exhibiting the sterling qualities in service and humility, as enshrined in the NYSC motto”.
The Chairman, Kwara State NYSC Governing Board, represented by the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Dr. Mrs. Adenike Funmilola Ajide, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support to the NYSC scheme in Kwara State and admonished the corps members to offer selfless service all through the year by contributing to the development of their host communities.
Speaking further, she commended the camp officials for their hard work and selfless sacrifice at ensuring the safety of the Corps members.
In his remarks, the State Coordinator for the NYSC, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support to the NYSC in the state and appreciated the corps members for their eagerness to go through the mandatory youths service year, stating that various activities had been lined up for their entertainment and education, while also admonishing them to strictly comply with all the rules required.
Mr. Onifade stated that a total number of 1306 Corps members comprising 648 females and 658 males were sworn-in at the Yikpata camp.
Also present at the event were the representative of the Director State Security Service , Sadiq Mohammed, the representative of the Commissioner of Police, CSP Jimoh Muhammed Tunde, representative of the Commandant Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) SC Babalola Sunday Stephen, among others.
