Kwara govt begs traders to partake in ‘weekly market sanitation’
The Kwara State Government has urged traders to always take in the weekly market sanitation exercise.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Mrs. Remilekun Banigbe made this appeal during the weekly market sanitation exercise held today at Oja Oba in Ilorin.
Banigbe explained that proper hygiene should be taken seriously by packing out dirt from drainages to allow free flow of water and cleaning of market environs before trading, adding that it helps in keeping people safe from epidemics.
She further charged the traders to sensitize others on active participation in the exercise.
The Commissioner, who commended the traders for their levels of compliance today, reaffirmed that the weekly market sanitation exercise scheduled for Thursdays will continue to hold in order to keep the state safe of epidemics.
For his part, the Baba Isale of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullahi Sadiq promised that his people will continue to comply in carrying out the exercise and pledged their cooperation and support in promoting proper hygienic environment in the state.
