Kwara gov rewards Law School best graduates with ₦5m each, promises overseas scholarships
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has rewarded two indigenes of the state who emerged as the overall best and second-best graduating students at the 2026 Nigerian Law School graduation ceremony with ₦5 million each.
The governor also pledged to sponsor their postgraduate studies abroad once they secure admission to their preferred institutions.
The beneficiaries are Israel Adekunle Adeniyi from Offa, who emerged as the overall best graduating student, and Oluwatomisin Promise Daniel, an indigene of Idofin Igbana in Oke Ero Local Government Area, who finished as the second-best graduating student.
Both graduates studied Law at the University of Ilorin before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School.
AbdulRazaq disclosed the rewards in a Facebook post on Wednesday after receiving the two graduates at the Government House in Ilorin.
The governor said the reception was organised to celebrate their outstanding academic achievements and encourage other young people in the state to pursue excellence.
He said, “I felt it was necessary to personally honour their hard work, commitment, and brilliance to motivate others to also do well and make their families and our state proud.”
According to him, each of the graduates received a cash gift of ₦5 million in recognition of their achievements.
AbdulRazaq also said the state government would support their plans to pursue master’s degrees overseas.
“In addition to the cash gifts of ₦5 million apiece, I was fascinated by their plans of going for their Master’s degrees at some Ivy League institutions across the Atlantic, and I accordingly pledged to fund this academic endeavour once they secure their admission,” he said.
The governor described the gesture as the state’s appreciation for their hard work and dedication, adding that his administration valued excellence across all fields.
He also rejected the growing perception that formal education no longer guarantees success, citing the achievements of the two young lawyers as evidence of the benefits of academic dedication.
AbdulRazaq congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments and wished them continued success in their legal careers.
