Kwara gov mourns as APC elder stateman Chief Wole-Oke passes on

The Kwara State House of Assembly leader during the Second Republic and a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Stephen Wole-Oke, has passed away.

It was gathered that the septuagenarian, fondly known as the Jagunmolu of Shao, died in the early hours of Sunday.

Meanwhile, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Chief Wole-Oke as a “fine progressive” towering figure in politics and community leadership.

A statement by Governor’s spokesperson Rafiu Ajakaye highlighted the late leader’s significant contributions to the state and the APC, adding that Jagunmolu was a great statesman and community leader who peacefully pursued his causes with superior arguments and personal conviction” the Governor said. “He will be sorely missed.

“He was a courageous yet calm man who spoke truth to power. He was a forthright, blunt man whose position on issues was always evident.

“Chief Wole-Oke, a member of the APC Elders’ Council, was known for his unwavering dedication to the development of Kwara State and his fearless approach to governance. His tenure as a lawmaker in the Second Republic and subsequent role as an elder statesman earned him respect across political and social spheres.

“Governor AbdulRazaq extended his condolences to the Ohoro of Shao and the entire Shao community, the family of the deceased, and the APC leadership and members in Moro Local Government and Kwara State at large.

We ask God Almighty to comfort his family and everyone who mourns this late statesman,” he added.
