Kwara Gov commends Tinubu, says livestock reforms will end farmer-herder crisis

The Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for inaugurating the committee on Implementation of Livestock Reforms, which is to be chaired by the president and co-chaired by a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega.

AbdulRazaq, while emphasizing that the implementation of livestock reforms will end the age-long crisis between the farmers and the herders and open up new opportunities across the livestock value chain, said the President’s intention to establish a standalone Ministry to address issues in the livestock subsector will change the narrative for good.

The governor, however, urged for effective collaboration between members of the committee to achieve their objectives while also appealing to all stakeholders and every citizen to support the move and eschew partisanship in order to move the country forward.

He said, “I commend the inauguration of the committee, which is to be chaired by the President himself, while the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, will serve as co-chairman.

“Of particular note is the President’s intention to establish a standalone Ministry to address issues in the livestock subsector. This looks set to change the narrative for good.

“I have high hopes that the implementation of livestock reforms will end the age-long crisis between the farmers and the herders and open up new opportunities across the livestock value chain.

“Like the President, I urge effective collaboration between members of the committee to achieve their objectives. I also appeal to all stakeholders and every citizen to support the move and eschew partisanship. This way, our nation can move forward.”
