Kwara Gov AbdulRazaq reintroduces free transport palliative to ease economic hardship
The Kwara State Government, led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has reintroduced free transportation services for residents in a bid to cushion the effects of the economic reforms initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The announcement was made public through a recent price template released by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology.
The government will provide free bus transportation for routes including Post Office to Tanke, Unilorin, Oja, Eyenkorin, Amayo, Mandate, Oyun, UITH, and Okeose, among others.
Previously, according to the statement, the fares for these routes ranged from N300 to N500; for instance, the fare from Post Office to Tanke-Unilorin was set at N500, while the journey from Oyun to UITH and Okeose was priced at N400 for students, staff, and the general public.
Olayinka Fafoluyi, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor, noted that Governor AbdulRazaq has consistently provided free transportation palliatives whenever necessary.
He noted that during the fuel scarcity and currency swap under the former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, the governor offered free transport services to residents.
He reiterated that since the commencement of the economic reforms by the Tinubu-led federal government last year, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has continued to implement subsidized and free transportation initiatives to mitigate the impacts of these changes on the populace.
