Kwara Gov., AbdulRazaq congratulates Tinubu as new ECOWAS chair
AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Kwara State Governor and Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ forum (NGF), on Monday, congratulated president Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the chairman, Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), describing it as a well deserved victory for Nigeria and West Africa at large.
The Informant247 reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday, elected the chairman, Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
It was gathered that Tinubu was elected at the 63rd ordinary session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Bissau, the capital city of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, to take over the leadership of the regional political and economic bloc.
Tinubu, while speaking after he was elected, promised his “unalloyed commitment” to providing purposeful leadership and serving the interest of the community.
AbdulRazaq, in a statement released on Monday, said, “On behalf of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), I congratulate His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
“President Tinubu’s unanimous endorsement by his colleagues at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, underscores the confidence they have in him to provide progressive leadership for the regional organisation and introduce game-changing policies.
“We believe Mr. President will justify the confidence reposed in him, given his antecedents as a time-tested leader. With his wealth of experience in both private and public sectors, we have no doubt that the West African leaders have made the right choice. I urge all stakeholders to cooperate with President Tinubu on this significant responsibility to place West Africa on the global map,” he added.
