Kwara Garment Factory hosts senior military officers for insightful tour

The Kwara Garment Factory in Ilorin hosted a delegation of senior military officers from Senior Course 47 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji, Kaduna State, on Monday.

The visit was part of a broader study tour aimed at exploring key institutions and initiatives within Kwara State.

Led by Colonel Usman Hashim Muhammed, the delegation, comprised of officers from various branches of the Nigerian Armed Forces and allied nations, was warmly received by Managing Director Hajia Bukola Adedeji. In her welcome address, Hajia Adedeji expressed excitement about the visit, stating, “It is a privilege to showcase our contributions to industrialization and job creation in Kwara State.”

Participants were guided through the factory’s operations, observing the full production process from fabric cutting to finishing. Alhaji Ganiyu Shuaib, the Permanent Secretary of General Services, emphasized the visit’s importance, noting, “This initiative is critical for deepening our understanding of how economic activities can support governance and security.”

Colonel Muhammed praised the collaborative spirit between the Kwara State Government and the factory’s management. He explained the aim of the study tour, stating, “Our theme, ‘Harnessing Grassroots Intelligence for Enhancing Internal Security,’ seeks to improve civil-military relations and highlight the role of economic initiatives in strengthening national security.”

He further acknowledged the factory’s efforts in youth empowerment and poverty reduction, asserting, “By creating jobs, we are helping to stabilize our communities and promote peace.”

The visit included interactive discussions between course participants and factory staff, illustrating the impact of grassroots economic ventures on community security. As a token of appreciation, the delegation was presented with branded souvenirs, symbolizing the connection between military training and economic development.

This significant engagement underscored the vital link between economic empowerment and internal security, showcasing the need for ongoing collaboration between public and private sectors to create a secure and prosperous future for all.
