Kwara: Foundation trains teachers on peace building
A non-governmental organization, OneAfricanChild foundation has held a training session for some selected teachers in Kwara State on peace, resilience building and prevention of violence extremism across secondary schools in the state.
The workshop aimed at curbing the menace of violence in secondary schools, organised in partnership with the Kwara state Ministry of Education had in attendance about 30 teachers selected from across the state.
The state coordinator of the foundation, Segun Okeowo Daniel said, “the workshop is aimed at reducing violence in secondary schools and it is an attestation to our pledge in supporting the program as championed by the United Nations Educational scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO) and international Institute for Capacity building in Africa (IICBA) during the conference held in Ethiopia, November this year which we were a part of.

“The important role of teachers and caregivers in the building or moulding a societally behaved and peace loving youth can not be overemphasised which is the rationale behind the training currently targeting teachers and educators by exposing them to the various strategies of building a peace loving students and advocates.”
Participants were engaged in different activities stimulating critical thinking, design thinking and empathy to drive home their major learning and takeouts from the workshop while Certificate of participation were duly presented to the participants.
