Kwara flags off construction of new office complex to address congestion

The Kwara State Government has officially commenced the construction of a new office complex in Ilorin, aimed at improving service delivery and creating a more conducive working environment for public and civil servants.

The modern one-storey office building, located adjacent to the Deputy Governor’s Office at the Government House, was handed over to the contractor, Mapet Construction Ltd., during a brief ceremony on Tuesday.

Dr. Segun Ogunsola, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, spoke at the event, highlighting that this project is part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s broader efforts to modernize public infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency within the government.

He dismissed rumors of a new Government House being constructed as “fake news,” clarifying that this development is solely for administrative office use.

“The new offices are designed to bridge existing infrastructure gaps and promote smooth governance that will deepen the delivery of democratic dividends to both rural and urban residents,” Ogunsola stated.

He noted that the office complex will encompass various office spaces, a conference room, and other essential facilities. The Ministry plans to closely monitor the construction to ensure that high-quality work is completed within the stipulated one-year timeframe.

The handover ceremony was also attended by QS Raheem Abdulbaki, General Manager of the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency; Alhaja Risikat Atinuke, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry; and other senior officials.

Additionally, representatives from the project consultant firm, Baron Architecture, led by Adepeju Ogunsakin, were present, along with Architect Awolola Emmanuel Tolulope, who represented Mapet Construction Ltd. Tolulope assured those present that the company would uphold high construction standards and adhere to the agreed timeline, stating, “We have the track record and the capacity to deliver on time.”
