Kwara firefighters avert disaster at Tipper Garage, prevent over 40 trucks from damage
The Kwara State Fire Service said it has contained a fire incident that happened on Sunday, 6th April 2025, at the Alagbede Tipper Garage in the Ita Alamu area, Ilorin.
According to a statement by its spokesperson, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the Service responded to a distress call concerning a fire outbreak at about 10:40 pm.
It was gathered that the firefighters arrived at the scene to find a large heap of plastics—awaiting recycling—engulfed in flames, dangerously close to over 45 parked trucks.
The statement furthered that the firefighters worked relentlessly to prevent the fire from spreading to the vehicles, successfully containing the blaze caused by a loud blast heard by security personnel.
The statement concluded that the director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, urged the general public to remain vigilant and prioritize fire safety at all times, adding that the Service remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property through proactive fire prevention strategies and swift emergency response.
