Kwara: ENetSuD reveals detailed breakdown of Tanke Flyover contract sum

The Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) has taken a significant step in promoting transparency by revealing an intricate breakdown of the contract sum for the construction of the single-carriage flyover bridge at Pipeline Tanke Junction in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The contract for the Tanke Flyover project was awarded to City International Dimensions on December 13th, 2021.

The press release, undersigned by ENetSuD’s Director of Investigation and Public Petition (Kwara Central), has shed light on the disclosure of the contract sum.

This comes after ENetSuD made an in-depth analysis of the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) for the project, which forms part of the initiatives overseen by the Kwara State Government (KWSG) under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman.

The statement stated, “ENetSuD is currently subjecting the BEME to critical examination, after which on-site measurement and quantification will be done to determine if the works done by the contractor commensurate with the contract sum spent by the government on the project.”

A preliminary disclosure from ENetSuD provides a meticulous breakdown of the contract sum, offering insight into the allocation of funds across various components of the project.

According to ENetSuD, the total cost of the project stands at ₦2,410,338,700, distributed among five distinct bills.

“Bill 1 covers General Provisions, with a budget of ₦50,000,000.

“Bill 2 addresses Site Clearing and Earthworks, with a sum of ₦150,405,750.

“Bill 3 encompasses Culverts, Drains, and Retaining Walls, amounting to ₦891,576,215.

“Bill 4 is allocated to Pavement and Surfacing, with ₦406,464,974.

“Bill 5 pertains to Bridge Construction, with a budget of ₦636,958,332.”

The statement added that provisions have been made for contingencies, set at ₦106,770,262, to account for unexpected circumstances.

“An additional ₦168,163,164 is allocated for Value-Added Tax (VAT) on the project.”

The civil society organization revealed that it intends to provide further comprehensive details about each bill in subsequent communications.

It stated that the overarching aim of this disclosure is to foster transparency and provide a deeper understanding of the allocation and utilization of funds for the Tanke Flyover project, contributing to heightened public awareness and appreciation.

The statement concludes by reinforcing the organization’s commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in infrastructural development projects.
