Kwara Education Commissioner calls for enhanced staff commitment in public schools

Kwara State’s Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, has called on teachers and staff in state-owned public schools to prioritize punctuality and dedication to their duties. His remarks came during oversight visits to various schools in Ilorin, where he emphasized the importance of adhering to work schedules to foster a conducive learning environment.

During the visits, Dr. Olohungbebe urged school personnel to reject any tendencies toward laziness and absenteeism, highlighting their crucial role in supporting the government’s mission of delivering quality education to students. “This oversight visit offers me the opportunity to gather firsthand insights into how well you are complying with the ministry’s guidelines and directives,” he explained. “It’s vital that we collectively ensure the right practices are in place.”

The commissioner commended the management and staff of the schools he toured for their efforts in maintaining clean and safe environments, urging them to continue the excellent standards they have set.

Mrs. Adebara Janet Olufunke, the Junior Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Tanke, expressed appreciation for the current administration’s efforts in revitalizing the education sector. She noted the provision of more classrooms and the reconstruction of school facilities as significant improvements. On behalf of her colleagues, she pledged their commitment to reciprocating the government’s initiatives by enhancing the quality of education provided.

The schools included in his oversight visits were Queen Elizabeth School (Ilorin West), Government Secondary School (Ilorin East), Community Secondary School (Sango-Eleboto), Fate-Basin Secondary School (Fate), and Government Day Secondary School (Tanke), all located within the Ilorin South Local Government Area.
