An Ilorin Magistrate court, presided over by Magistrate Bello, today, ordered the remand of four suspects who were allegedly caught with dangerous weapons and charms in Share, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Police reports revealed that they were intercepted by the joint patrol team comprising police and vigilante in their Toyota Corona car along secretariat road, Share.
Search conducted on them led to the discovery of abdicated muzzle loading guns with nine live cartridges, one cutlass, one dagger and some criminal charms.
The suspects, Babangida Nagolo, Awa Ubale, Bawa Makari and Saminu Kotogora, were said to have confessed that they procure the guns in Niger with the intent to use it for vigilante operatives.
Police information added that the arm is not licensed saying it was procured illegally.
The prosecutor, Matthew Folorunsho, while making his submission, prayed the court to remand the suspects saying the offence they allegedly committed are not ordinarily bailable.
Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Toyin Onoolapo, urged the court to discountenance the submission of the prosecutor saying the offences before his clients are mere allegations.
The court, ceded to the prayer of the prosecutor and ordered the remand of the four suspects while the matter was adjourned to 23rd March, 2021.
