Kwara completes airlift of last 140 pilgrims for Hajj 2025

Kwara State has successfully airlifted its final batch of 140 pilgrims, including 24 officials from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), who departed from the Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin to Saudi Arabia this evening for the 2025 Hajj rites.

Addressing the departing pilgrims, Professor Mashood Mahmud-Jimba, the Chairman of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, emphasized the importance of good conduct during their pilgrimage, while advising them against smuggling prohibited items into Saudi Arabia and reassured them that comprehensive arrangements had been made to ensure a smooth Hajj experience.

Professor Mahmud-Jimba stated, “I urge you all to avoid engaging in strenuous activities and to use the medical facilities provided should you need any medications. Staying in good health is crucial for performing the Hajj rites effectively.”

Meanwhile, Barrister Ismail Yahaya-Alebiosu, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo and this year’s Kwara State Amirul Hajj, praised the logistical arrangements made for a seamless airlift. He remarked, “The state government has provided the necessary support to the board. I urge you to obey the rules and regulations of Saudi Arabia while in the holy land.”

Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, the Executive Secretary of the Board, also encouraged the pilgrims to represent Nigeria positively, stating, “You are our ambassadors. Please remember to pray for the peace and prosperity of our nation.”

In total, Kwara State is sending 2,210 pilgrims to perform this year’s Hajj rites in Saudi Arabia.
