Kwara CJ Adebara inaugurates Local Government Election Tribunal ahead of Sept 21 polls

In preparation for the September 21 local government elections, the Kwara State chief judge, Honorable Justice Abiodun Adebara, has inaugurated two panels to address post-election petitions to ensure a fair and just electoral process in the state

The two panels are:

Panel 1

•Chairman: Chief Magistrate Jibril Bio Salihu
•Members: Chief Magistrate Mohammed Kola Aluko and  Magistrate Adeniyi Oluwaseyi Moses

Panel 2

•Chairman: Chief Magistrate Abubakar Mohammed Ndakene
•Members: Magistrate Adebola Mercy Feyisayo and Judge Abdul Hamid Yusuf Olatunji

Justice Adebara, during the swearing-in ceremony held on September 5, 2024, at the Kwara State High Court Conference Hall, emphasised the significance of the Tribunal in alleviating concerns and promoting a peaceful electoral process.

According to the CJ, the Kwara State Local Government Electoral Law (K32 Laws of Kwara State 2006, as amended) provides explicit provisions for addressing election petitions.

Justice Adebara also commended the panel members for their integrity and expertise, urging them to uphold their oath of office and serve with distinction while encouraging members of the Bar to exhibit excellence and adhere to the highest standards of their profession when appearing before the Tribunal.
