Kwara Assembly begs NGOs, others to support flood victims

The Kwara State House of Assembly, Tuesday, begged Charity Foundations, Non-Governmental Organizations and well-to-do individuals in the society to come to the aid of flood victims in the state.

The Assembly also urged the State Government to liaise with National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief materials for the victims of the disaster in order to reduce their sufferings.

The resolution of the Assembly was hinged on a motion sponsored by the house leader, Hon. Magaji Abubakar Olawoyin.

According to Olawoyin, he said Ilorin, the state capital, witnessed a downpour trailed by a windy storm, a kind that has not been witnessed in recent time in the ancient city.

He opined that this is a trying moment for residents of Ilorin metropolis as people still live in shock and trauma that characterized the destructive storm of Saturday night.
