Kwara Assembly aspirant declares seven-day mourning for Ashaolu, halts campaign

Kwara Assembly aspirant, Comr. Odunjo Adio, has declared 7-day mourning for the late Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State, Tunde Ashaolu.

Ashaolu died on Sunday, barely 24 hours after celebrating his 50th birthday.

Top politicians, including the former Nigerian Senate President Bukola Saraki, had on Saturday took to their various social media platform to celebrate his birthday.

Making the declaration in a statement issued by his media office, the aspirant described Asaholu as a politician who gave his all for humanity.

He said, “Our dear brother and friend Messr. Tunde Ashaola as you were fondly called during your sojourn in life, all you did were for the betterment of humanities and community building, these were further attested to by the last position you occupied during your days on planet Earth.

“I saw how Dr. Bukola Saraki and many other loyal allies celebrated you, not known to us that you were only biding us farewell and goodbye. Such a style of goodbye was harsh, heart-disturbing and painful, because no one would love to loss such brilliant young-lad like you. We can only pray that, the Almighty Allah, grant the families, the entire PDP members and Kwarans at large the fortitude to bear your loss.”
