Kwara announces restriction of vehicular movement as monthly sanitation holds Saturday

The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for January will hold on Saturday, 25th January 2025, from seven o’clock to ten o’clock (7:00 am to 10:00 am) in the morning.

A statement from the Ministry of Environment urged the state’s residents to participate in the exercise by cleaning their residential and business environments.

The statement added that there would be restrictions on vehicular movement across the state during the exercise while noting that trucks will be made available for waste collection and subsequent disposal at government-approved dump sites.

“It is an offence punishable under the environmental law to dump refuse on pedestrian walkways, roadside, drainages, canals and other unapproved dump sites.

“In the same vein, any attempt to obstruct or deny government officials from carrying out their statutory obligations will be dealt with accordingly within the ambit of the law, the statement concluded.
