Kogi LP denounces imposter gubernatorial candidate, stands firm behind Okeme
Concerned by the ongoing impersonation and illicit activities of Colonel Vincent Enemona Abu (rtd) as the purported Labour Party (LP) candidate, state and local government executives in Kogi state have called upon the state’s security agencies to investigate his wrongdoings.
The State Chapter of the party has also disavowed the false candidate who has been raising funds for the upcoming election, despite a clear ruling by the apex court.
In a statement to the press in Lokoja, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Idakwo Emmanuel, expressed dismay over Colonel Vincent Enemona Abu’s continued claims as the party’s gubernatorial candidate. Emmanuel highlighted a Federal High court judgment in Abuja (suit number: FHC/ABJ/CS/598/2023) affirming Mr. Adejoh Okeme as the legitimate candidate. He stressed that anyone financially supporting Colonel Vincent Enemona Abu (rtd) based on his false claims should cease doing so, as the Supreme Court’s judgment has settled the matter definitively.
Emmanuel further disclosed, “Party State Executives in Kogi State, local government chairmen, and their secretaries unanimously agree that the attention of the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and all other security agencies in Nigeria should be brought to Colonel Vincent Enemona Abu (Rtd)’s unlawful actions.”
He expressed concern over the actions of someone with a military background, who one would expect to uphold high morals and principles but has descended to disregard established laws and court judgments merely for personal gain. He emphasized the need for security agencies to investigate this behavior, stating that they would not allow any individual to disregard the highest court’s judgment.
Emmanuel concluded by reaffirming the Labor Party’s vision to end criminality and unruly behavior and noted that Barrister Adejoh Okeme had been chosen by the people to champion the party’s agenda in the upcoming November 11, 2023 election and transform the state from a consumer-driven to a productive and prosperous one.
