kidnappers of Kogi varsity lecturer ask for N20m ransom

Abductors of a lecturer with Kogi State University Anyiba, Prof. John Alabi, who was kidnapped on Monday about 6p.m., when he was about entering his apartment in Anyigba, have demanded N20 million ransom.

Alabi is the current Dean of Faculty Of Management Sciences at the Kogi State University.

The Guardian gathered that the kidnappers, who were fully armed came in a Mercedes Benz car and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

A family source, who spoke in confidence, said the abductors have contacted the family and management of Kogi State University.

The source said they called the wife and demanded N20 million ransom

“The kidnappers ambushed Prof. Alabi with a Mercedes Benz car when he was about entering his residence. They wanted to take him away with his car, but due to the deplorable state of the road, they forced him to park his car. The car was actually stalked. That was why they forced him into their own car.

“When they called his wife, they told her that her husband was with them. And if she wants to see her husband alive, the family should pay the sum of N20 million. Immediately, the wife started crying because the family can’t afford such an amount of money,” the source said.

Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP William Ovye Aya, who confirmed the incident, said the command would not leave any stone unturned until the lecturer is rescued alive.
