Kidnapped Igbo businessman released after family pays N10 mjllion ransom
Emeka Nwachukwu, an Igbo businessman who was abducted by gunmen in Kwara State last Wednesday, has been released.
A source confirmed to The Informant247 on Tuesday that Nwachukwu regained his freedom on Sunday after his family paid a ransom of N10 million.
The businessman was kidnapped at his clinic in Kosubosu, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, as reported by The Informant247 on Thursday.
The incident, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, left the community in a state of panic.
According to the source, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million, but the amount was eventually negotiated down to N10 million before his release.
The source further revealed that during the negotiation, Nwachukwu was subjected to severe mistreatment. “His hands were tied behind his back, and he was hung upside down, with his head facing downward,” the source added.
