Katsina teacher kills friend with rat poison, dispossess him of car

A teacher in Katsina State, Laminu Saminu was arrested over the killing his friend Sanusi Bawa, with poison.

Samiunu, 29, was reported to have killed his friend, who’s also an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and still dispossessed him of his car

The spokesperson of the police command, SP Gambo Isah, has confirmed the incident in a statement.

Isah revealed that Saminu was residing at Bakin Kasuwa quarters, Mani Local Government Area of the State.

He narrated that Saminu told his victim to accompany him to an uncompleted building in the area where he took his life with poison.

The police spokesman confirmed that the suspect also dispossessed the victim of his vehicle.

“The suspect asked the victim to park his vehicle and they entered the uncompleted building together where he served him a “Fura da nono” mixed with poison to drink.

“After drinking the Fura, the officer became unconscious.

“Consequently, the suspect hit the victim with a wood on the head until he died.

“He then threw the corpse inside a well in the house and covered it with sand,” the police said of how the teacher poisoned his friend.

“In the course of investigation, the police discovered that the suspect called the wife of the deceased on phone and told her that to get her husband vehicle’s documents,” he said.

The spokesperson also added that police went after the suspect and apprehended him.

According to the police, the suspect has admitted to committing the criminal act.

The mouthpiece of the police also narrated that a firewood, a pack of rat poison, and the car having AA 266 KUF, as registration number and which was owned by the deceased were recovered from the suspect.

He added that the suspect would be dragged after necessary police investigation has been concluded.
