#JusticeForBlessing: FIDA, CSOs protest rape, murder of UNILORIN student
The rape and killing of a 300 level University of Ilorin student, Olajide Omowumi Blessing sparked protests as demonstrators demanded justice for victims of pervasive sexual violence.
The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in collaboration with the Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs held a protest in Ilorin, the state capital city on Friday.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Aremu Abosede Deborah, while speaking with our correspondent said the incident is sad and unbearable particularly for mothers adding that government will stop at nothing to ensure that justice is served.
The chairperson of FIDA, Gloria Okodua, urged the government to beef up its security apparatus to protest lives and properties saying rape cases in the society are becoming too rampant.
The deceased sister lamented that Blessing has been leaving with her at Tanke area, Ilorin for the past seven years saying she was shocked to meet her lifeless body in the sitting room after she returned from work on Tuesday.
