JUST IN: Fire guts popular hotel in Ilorin
Fire has gutted the popular Starwood Hotel at Trinity Street, Flower Garden in Ilorin, affecting the bar and kitchen.
According to a statement by Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, HOD. Media and Publicity, the inferno which occurred on Sunday, 28th July 2024, was caused as a result of a power surge.
The statement furthered that the men of the fire service, in a swift response to the incident, put off the fire to avert more dangers.
The statement reads, “On Sunday, 28th July 2024, at about 21:38 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to a distress call at Starwood Hotel, Trinity Street, Flower Garden, GRA Ilorin. The firemen left the station immediately to avert the ongoing danger.
“Upon arrival, the gallant firemen get to work immediately to stop the fire from spreading to the next room; the fire was put under control at 22:05 hours and later put it off. It was a Hotel room of about 16 lodges, Bar and Kichen was affected, which sustained personal effect.”
He added that the Director of Kwara State Fire Service urged the general public to prioritise safety.
