JAMB sets 150 cut-off mark for universitie, 140 for colleges of nursing, 100 for others
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the minimum admission scores for the 2024/2025 academic session in Nigeria.
During a policy meeting held in Abuja, stakeholders, including heads of tertiary institutions, agreed that the cut-off mark for universities will be set at 150. For polytechnics and colleges of education, the acceptable minimum score will be 100, while colleges of nursing sciences will require a score of at least 140.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, emphasized the significance of these minimum thresholds, stating, “No institution is allowed to go below these approved scores.” He underscored that this policy is aimed at promoting fairness, access, and quality in the admissions process across the country.
The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa, also reaffirmed the autonomy of institutions to set higher standards based on their program competitiveness, while still adhering to the national benchmarks established by JAMB.
The Board officially stated, “The minimum admissible scores for the next academic session have been fixed at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences.” Institutions are expected to finalize their admission processes according to the approved timeline and report results to JAMB for central processing.
