Iyabo Ojo reveals why her ex-husband walked Priscilla down the aisle

Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has explained why her ex-husband, Ademidun Ojo, walked their daughter, Priscilla Ojo, down the aisle during her wedding to Tanzanian singer, Juma Jux.

Speaking in a recent interview on The Morayo Show, the actress said she deliberately set aside her differences with her former husband to ensure their daughter enjoyed one of the happiest moments of her life without being affected by past issues.

According to Iyabo, she was determined to break what she described as generational patterns of broken homes in her family.

“I don’t know, there’s something called ancestral curses, and Africans believe in it. Christians also believe in it. I believe that if you do not want something to continue, you have to be able to break it,” she said.

She explained that both her parents were separated, a situation she was determined not to replicate in her own children’s lives.

“So I made up my mind that whatever situation had happened—because my dad and my mum were also not together—every mistake they made that I have made, my children will not make it,” she said.

“So I had to put aside my feelings and differences and play my part. That’s why I said I have paid the price for her to succeed and for her to be happy in her marriage,” she added.

Iyabo stressed that despite the end of her marriage, her former husband remains Priscilla’s father and deserved to be present at such a significant milestone.

“Her father is not dead. He’s alive. So why can’t he be there? He didn’t wrong her. Me and him fell out; it has nothing to do with her.

“I made the choice to marry him. Whatever is going on between me and him is between us. It shouldn’t extend to my children,” she said.

The actress also dismissed perceptions that she is overly strict as a mother, noting that although she was firm while raising her children, they now understand the reasons behind her parenting approach.

Priscilla and Juma Jux held a series of lavish wedding ceremonies in Tanzania and Nigeria in 2025. The celebrations attracted celebrities and dignitaries across Africa and became one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year.
