Members of the Nigeria Association of Technologists and Engineers (NATE) Kwara State Branch were commended for their dedication to human capacity development during a recent courtesy visit to the International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC) in Ajase-Ipo.

Engr. Yaru Salihu, the Rector of IVTEC, expressed his appreciation for the ongoing collaboration between the college and NATE.

“A cordial relationship between our institutions is vital for achieving our collective objectives. We need robust investments from both the government and private sector in human capacity building through technical and vocational training,” he emphasized.

Highlighting the importance of equipping youth with practical skills, Engr. Salihu stated, “Sustainable national development can only be achieved when young people are equipped with the in-demand skills that will make them self-reliant and employable.”

He acknowledged NATE’s leadership for recognizing IVTEC as a critical player in the nation’s technical education landscape, describing the visit as evidence of IVTEC’s significant role in vocational training in Nigeria.

In response, Engr. Mahmud Saka Sholagberu, Chairman of the NATE delegation, praised IVTEC’s dedication to skills training and manpower development. “IVTEC has produced well-trained, competent, and disciplined technologists and technicians for our nation,” he remarked.

Engr. Sholagberu also provided an overview of NATE, which was established in 1976 and incorporated in 1986, with a mission to promote self-reliant technological development in Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of their visit in strengthening the bond between NATE and IVTEC and encouraged staff and students to consider registering as members of NATE.

The visit concluded with a tour of IVTEC’s state-of-the-art training facilities, where the NATE team commended the Kwara State government for its investment in modern tools and technologies to train the youth in various trades.
