I’ve warned them not to play ball there again – man said after shooting 9 playing kids
Edo state police has arrested a vigilante, Abdulralman Agbontaen, who shot and wounded nine kids playing football.
The spokesperson of the police command, SP Bello Kontongs, who brought the information to the awareness of journalists, said the incident occurred on Enabulele Street at Ogida Quarters, Benin.
He explained that the suspect, on April 23, shot and injured nine children while they were innocently playing football.
While explaining his side of the story, the suspect said he had earlier sounded warning to the kids to cease playing football, having previously damaged his property with their ball.
He said the boys turned deaf ears to his warning, and this got him angry. He brought out his gun and opened fire on them.
He added that, “I shot the gun out of anger as I suspected them to be secret cult members. I regret it now but I thank God no one died.”
