We will avenge house burning of supporters by soldiers, Ebubeagu :IPOB
Anyone who sponsors and encourages the Nigerian Army and the Ebubeagu security group to destroy houses and inflict violence on innocent people, including governors of states in the South-East, would face consequences, according to the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra.
The destruction of property and the murders of innocent persons suspected of being IPOB members or supporters have also been termed as genocide against Biafra territory by the group.
It went on to say that those implicated would be held accountable for their “treason and brutality” to their fellow citizens in the near future.
Emma Powerful, the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, asked the South-East governors to speak out against the situation if they had nothing to do with it, stating there was nowhere in the North where innocent peasants were being attacked by security forces and their homes set on fire.
Powerful further said that the Nigerian Army had burned down over 30 innocent individuals’ homes in Enugu, Imo, and Ebonyi states in less than a week because they were Igbo and sympathisers of IPOB.
He noted that, as in the North, the Federal Government has reached an agreement to establish Internally Displaced Persons’ camps in the region.
“IPOB will not allow this barbarism and cruelty to continue,” the statement said. We shall avenge these unwarranted and unnecessary attacks on innocent Biafran civilians’ homes. Nigerian security operatives and Ebubeagu’s callous burning down of houses in our region cannot go unpunished.
