Inter-Ministerial press briefing: KWHMB lists achievements, commends Gov AbdulRazaq for prioritising healthcare workers
Kwara State Government has disclosed that it has recorded tremendous achievements in the health sector throughout the last year.
The Executive Secretary of the Hospital Management Board, Dr Abdulraheem Malik, while stating this during the week at the fourth-quarter Inter-Ministerial Press briefing held at Ministry of Finance’s Conference room, highlighted some of the achievements of Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq’s administration such as prioritising the capacity building of healthcare workers in the state, various training programmes were organised for Doctors, Nurses, Laboratory Technicians, Pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Dr Malik said continuous medical education programs have also been implemented to keep the healthcare workforce updated with the latest advancements in medical practice, adding that the management board has facilitated the recruitment of Doctors, Nurses and other healthcare workers to ensure optimal staffing in all the healthcare facilities.

He also disclosed that expanding and upgrading healthcare facilities has reduced the challenge of waiting endlessly to see doctors on appointments and patients seeking medical care.
“The provision of new medical and laboratory equipment has enhanced the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of healthcare facilities in Kwara State. Patients can now access advanced medical procedures and treatments without travelling long distances to seek medical care. Establishing blood banks in selected hospitals has improved access to blood and components for blood transfusion patients. This has saved many lives and reduced mortality rates in the state,” he concluded.
