Inter-Ministerial briefing: Electric vehicle conversion amongst notable projects in MBIT ministry – Commissioner

The Kwara State Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Technology has made significant strides in fostering economic development throughout the state, as detailed by Commissioner Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun at the recent press briefing. During the first quarter Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing held in Ilorin, she provided an overview of the Ministry’s achievements and ongoing projects.

“Our strategic focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure development is crucial for driving economic transformation,” Hon. Damilola stated. “Currently, we are managing 10 key projects in the Kwara Central Senatorial District, with four already completed.”

She emphasized that these initiatives align with the vision of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who is dedicated to enhancing business opportunities for the citizens of Kwara.

Among the completed projects highlighted were the Ilorin Innovation Hub and the successful Gasoline-to-Electric Vehicle Conversion Project, which was executed in partnership with Kwara State University.

“This project led to the delivery of two electric buses and a Hilux EV to our Ministry,” she shared. Other completed initiatives include the Kwara Garment Factory and the Sugar Film Factory, aimed at positioning Kwara as a hub for creativity and entertainment.

The Commissioner also discussed ongoing initiatives, such as the Ilorin International Conference Centre, which will boast a 1,500-seat auditorium and a hotel with 129 rooms.

“We anticipate completion of this impressive infrastructure by the first quarter of 2026,” she noted.

She added that the Kwara Hotel Remodeling Project is currently 63% complete and is expected to be finished by October 2025.

Additionally, Hon. Damilola emphasized the importance of youth engagement through initiatives like the Coding & Digital Literacy Programme (Holiday Edition).

“This program targets students from 50 public schools and is a vital step toward creating a tech-savvy future for our youth,” she asserted.

The Ministry is also committed to providing business support through soft loans and grants in collaboration with Federal Agencies and the Bank of Industry.

“We strive to nurture a robust business ecosystem that empowers local industries and fosters innovation,” Hon. Damilola concluded, commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support in their mission to achieve sustainable development throughout the state.
