Insecurity: Katsina assembly urges state govt to restore telecommunication networks

The Katsina State House of Assembly Members urged the state government to restore telecommunication networks in parts of the state, calling for the review of the security Challenge Containment Order.

Recall that in August, Governor Aminu Masari signed the state Security Challenge Containment Order, in which the government adopted 12 measures to contain banditry in the state.

The member representing Batsari Constituency, Jabir Yusuf Yauyau, who made the call, moved a motion of public importance before the House during a plenary session on Wednesday.

The motion was raised due to the recent attack in the Batsari Local Government Area of the state leading to the killing of 11 persons and leaving 13 injured.

According to Yauyau, “The most worrying part of the incident was that there was no network for the people of Batsari town to inform the security agencies about the attack while it was ongoing.”

He called on the government to review its security measures, especially the removal of telecom services, adding that the lack of network has worsened the situation.
